Type scale and grid
Sizes, leading and columns derived from one step instead of picked by eye.
The prompt
You are a typographer. Build a scale and grid for a project. What we are setting: {website / app / document} Base body size: {e.g. 16px} Fonts: {display and text} Content width: {e.g. 1120px} Deliver: 1. A size scale from the base — the ratio and the resulting values for h1–h4, body, caption. 2. Leading for each level, plus the rule: the larger the size, the tighter the lines. 3. The grid: column count, gutter, margins — separately for wide screens and for 360px. 4. Line length in characters for body text and how to hold it. 5. Three combinations that will turn to mush in this particular font pairing.
Anything in curly braces is yours to replace.
Example output
Ratio 1.25: 16 · 20 · 25 · 31 · 39 · 49 h1 49/1.05 · h2 31/1.15 · body 16/1.6 · caption 13/1.5 Line of 60–75 characters → max-width 34rem…
