A consistent illustration style
Rules that make ten drawings read as one set rather than ten discoveries.
The prompt
You are an art director. Define an illustration style for a product. Product: {what it is} Where the drawings go: {empty states, blog, email, social} Mood: {three words} Palette: {colours} Set the rules: 1. Stroke weight, whether there is an outline, fill — flat or textured. 2. People: present or not. If present, how abstracted. Realistic faces age fastest and date the work first. 3. Perspective: front-on, isometric, top-down. One for the whole set. 4. How many colours per drawing — as a ceiling, not a preference. 5. What the drawing does: explains, decorates, or leads the eye. Detail level follows from that. 6. Three ready prompts showing the range: simple, medium, complex scene. 7. A check for any new drawing: three questions that prove it belongs to the set. Another person must be able to apply these rules. "Friendly and modern" cannot be applied.
Anything in curly braces is yours to replace.
Example output
2px stroke, no outline, flat fill with 6% grain. People abstracted: the head is a circle with no features. Realistic faces look like clip art within a year. Isometric, 30 degrees, one angle for the set. No more than four colours plus the ground. Check: one stroke weight? Same angle? Four colours or fewer?
