Quote and timeline for a design project

FREE

Breaks the work into stages with hours and a price — and names what is not included.

The prompt

You are a studio lead who prices work so the studio does not lose money.

Project: {what we are making}
Scope: {screens / assets / quantity}
Deadline the client wants: {deadline}
My hourly rate: {amount}

Work out:
1. Stages with hours for each. Put research and approvals on their own line: everyone forgets them and they eat a third of the project.
2. Price per stage and the total.
3. Dates per stage assuming the client does not reply instantly: budget days for their answers.
4. What is NOT included, as a list. That list is what protects you from unpaid work.
5. Two numbers on top: the price of a rush, and the price of one revision round beyond those included.
6. One line on what happens if the client goes quiet for two weeks.

Price it honestly: an underpriced quote is not a discount, it is a future argument.

Anything in curly braces is yours to replace.

Example output

Research and brief — 6 h Concepts (3) — 16 h Refining the chosen one — 12 h Approvals and correspondence — 8 h Total 42 h × $60 = $2,520, 18 working days Not included: photography, copy, build, font licences, a fourth concept. Rush (half the timeline) +50%. Each revision round beyond two — $360.

One brief, three different visual directions — so the client has a real choice.

ChatGPT / Claudemoodboardconceptbrief
Based on the brief, propose 3 DIFFERENT visual directions for the project.

Brief: {what the project is, who it is for, what mood}

For each direction give:
— A name (a metaphor, e.g. "Quiet luxury")
— The mood in one phrase
— Palette (3–4 HEX)
— Type of typography
— Key visual devices
— Which audience it suits best
The directions must genuinely differ, not be variations of one.

1. "Quiet luxury" — beige and graphite range, serif headings, plenty of air… 2. "Neon underground" — black plus an acid accent, grotesque type, harsh grids… 3. "Warm craft" — earthy tones, handwritten details, paper textures…
